The I.S.C.I.A encourages the multi-disciplinary team approach which may include agencies in various professions such as medical\, social services\, and corrections throughout the State of Iowa. \nIn today’s environment\, we are experiencing rapid changes both in the areas of technology and risks. As a group\, they are striving to minimize the impact of sexual crimes by sharing information in a timely manner. They strive to stay current on trends and facilitate training on those trends to all of their members. \nTheir purpose is to create a network of sex crime investigators\, with representatives from any and all agencies related to the investigation of these crimes. \nTheir goal is to establish a working network of members to take a strong leadership role by providing increased prevention\, training and information for all involved professions.  The  Iowa Sex Crime Investigators Association created their website to promote the  exchange of information and to establish networking with members around the nation to reduce sexually related crimes. \nThe Iowa Sex Crimes Investigators Association is dedicated to combating sex crimes in Iowa and surrounding states. DESCRIPTION:The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce the 2019 Impact of Trauma on Law Enforcement Officers Conference at Christopher Newport University\, in Newport News\, Virginia on September 17-18\, 2019. \nLaw enforcement officers are often exposed to traumatic events\, and the cumulative effects of witnessing human suffering and tragedies. While law enforcement officers are trained to handle the most critical incidents like homicides and active shooter events\, the daily accumulation of stress\, anxiety\, and trauma are rarely addressed. Such exposure can weaken the mental well-being of officers and affect their ability to perform their duties to the public and live healthy lives outside of work. DESCRIPTION:The FPPOA (Federal Probation & Pretrial Officers Association) national board has planning underway for the upcoming National Training Institute (NTI) scheduled for Sunday\, August 25th through Wednesday\, August 28th in Tucson\, Arizona. If you have attended one of their conferences in the past\, you can recall the large amount of impressive presenters that participate\, and whose presentations are directly related to the work of federal probation and pretrial officers. Generally\, there are several hundred officers in attendance and the networking that officers from all across the country participate in is invaluable. This year’s NTI will be no different. Located at the Marriott Starr Pass resort in Tucson\, the southwest scenery\, culture\, and diverse sessions to chose from will be a conference you will not want to miss. This year\, the keynote speaker on Sunday evening is Elizabeth Smart. As many of you may know\, she endured a harrowing kidnapping experience in 2002.
