DESCRIPTION:The Probation and Pretrial Wellness Committee commenced work in October 2007. Officer wellness was not only becoming a focal point\nfor officers but a priority for our system. Today\, the Committee has eight members and focuses on all staff. The Committee is working to\nincrease awareness of mental health services that are available for all staff\, promote the use of the Committee’s wellness electronic\nlearning modules\, make curriculum recommendations about mental health and fitness awareness to Federal Probation and Pretrial\nAcademy staff\, and assist districts in creating internal wellness committees and critical incident stress management (CISM) teams.

DESCRIPTION:FREE Mental Health and Wellness Webinar for Law Enforcement and Their Support System\n  \nThe Innocent Justice Foundation\, in collaboration with OJJDP\, will present “Building Resiliency: The Importance of Privacy and Confidentiality in Wellness Programs” \nThis webinar will present participants with the concept that\, due to the stressors and trauma to which they are consistently exposed in their work\, they have a responsibility to engage in and/or provide staff with opportunities to engage in a consistent wellness practice. It will describe components of healthy wellness practice that includes skill building and activities that promote resilience\, that may include mental health consultation and support\, and that addresses trauma impacts experienced in the course of working with child sexual exploitation\, that may include mental health treatment or counseling. Participants will receive information about the differences between mental health consultation and programming for wellness\, and treatment or counseling\, about mental health providers’ responsibility to maintain client confidentiality and to notice clients of any limits on that responsibility\, such as reporting child abuse. Participants will be given information about how to address concerns they have about confidentiality or involvement with mental health programming. Information will be provided about the benefits of engaging in wellness practice\, from the individual perspective and the supervisory\, agency or management perspective. The Webinar will also provide information on a range of different wellness practices that individuals and agencies can employ: \n\nIncorporate information so participants will understand the value of wellness practice to promote resilience and address the negative effects of exposure to trauma and stress in their work at the individual level and the agency level.\nAddress concerns SHIFT training participants have raised about mental health involvement with wellness programming\nProvide information for differing types of wellness practice and programming available to individuals and agencies\n\n  \nALL law enforcement professionals should register for this webinar! \n  \nRegister \n  \n**Please note\, class time is listed in Pacific Standard Time (PST)

DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for individuals exposed to child sexual abuse images AND mental health professionals working with them. Team taught by a mental health professional and a law enforcement officer\, this course offers professionals who are exposed to child sexual abuse images at work and who may interact often with child sex offenders (e.g.\, law enforcement officers\, forensic analysts\, prosecutors\, etc.)\, the opportunity to learn about the causes and symptoms of the negative effects that may occur as a result of their duties and ways to mitigate them.\nMental health professionals learn about the challenges faced by professionals exposed to child pornography and other operations involving child sex offenders.
